Your YouTube videos won't get any views if you do THIS
Avoid this at all costs
Do you ever scroll on social media and see videos of people owning expensive houses and cars?
Of course you do…
While somewhat intriguing, it’s almost pointless to watch because let’s face it
Neither you nor I have $20 million to spend on a mansion
Or $250,000 to spend on a watch…
Well, this same phenomenon of being averse to the things that fall outside our means exists on YouTube
And if you succumb to it, you’ll definitely struggle to get any views on YouTube
Take the two following videos as examples:
On the left, we see a very attainable approach to building wealth (i.e. investing $120 a week)
Then, on the right, we have investing $100,000 into one of who ETFs.
Which of these two videos do you think is more relevant to the average viewer?
Someone investing $120 a week or investing $100,000?
Obviously the former…
Do you notice the difference in views?
The more broadly appealing video (left) has 20x more views
Same video quality, same voiceover artist, same thumbnail style
But the topic for the video on the left is vastly more applicable
Therefore, when generating topics for your videos
If your goal is to maximize views
Then keep in mind how applicable your topic is to a broader market of viewers
If just about anyone would see your videos as being applicable to them then your view potential will be significantly greater
If your video only relates to a small subset of the population then your video will already be capped at the number of views it can generate
Why do you think soccer videos generate so many views?
Simple, half the world watches soccer
Broader market > more views
See you tomorrow,
