Why most people fail on YouTube
This is the honest truth...
Today we are going to take a trip down memory lane
Back to a time where I was just 28 years old (oh to be young again!)
It was at this age that I started dating my beautiful wife
I remember it like it was yesterday as we approached celebrating her first birthday together
For this first birthday, I really wanted to wow her
We had just started dating and in passing she mentioned she wanted to get a new hair dryer
With little gift ideas in hand, I mentally noted that down and got to work
Then, her birthday came and I presented her with a Dyson AirWrap
Let me tell you, she was over the moon
To be honest, it was quite the aggressive gift based on where we were at in our relationship ($800)
But the look on her face when I bought it was worth every penny
Fast forward to last year and now we are engaged
We decided to go to visit Mickey Mouse in Orlando at the start of the winter
So, for her birthday I bought her a $1,000 plane ticket
Her responses - minimal…
Why the wide range in reactions between the hair dryer and the ticket?
Expectations…
The first year she didn’t expect such a large gift
Year 3 it was common place…
How does this relate to YouTube?
Your expectations are everything
Expect to get monetized in 20 videos and it takes 30 - you’ll be upset
Expect 1,000 views on a video and get 10,000 - you’ll be over the moon
Having proper expectations is what keeps you mentally in the game
And that’s the foundation to YouTube success…
Therefore, as you’re starting your YouTube journey, here are 3 expectations to consider:
On average, it takes 152 video to get monetized on YouTube
90% of YouTube videos never reach 1,000 views
It will cost you at least $60 to make a standard quality 10-minute YouTube video when outsourced
With these expectations in mind, you can now see your YouTube journey through a clearer lens
Excited to see where your YouTube journey takes you in 2025!
