The easiest way to mess up your YouTube channel

Have you ever walked into a conversation late

And thought to yourself “what the hell are they talking about?”

I think we’ve all been there before

We miss some initial context and then the rest of the story doesn’t make sense

Well, sadly, many YouTube channels are destroying their ability to generate views

All because they are leaving their viewers outside of the loop

Here’s an example…

Recently, my friend Daniel uploaded “The 2025 Hater’s Guide to Credit Cards (Part 2)”

Pretty cool angle for a video but here’s the catch…

Given he made a video that’s a part 2 he wasted a video opportunity

What do I mean?

Think about it

Someone is scrolling on the YouTube homepage and gets recommended that Part 2 video

Who in their right mind is going to click on it?

Likely only people who saw part 1

Well, that’s very few people…

Meaning that by nature of it being 2/2 he has dissuaded everyone that was recommended his video from watching

A better angle would have been ““The 2025 Hater’s Guide to Credit Cards (Updated Mar 2025)”

This way you can make a continuation while still making it relevant to those being recommended the video on the homepage, sidebar etc.

Little positioning mistakes like these can easily cost your channel 10,000s of views

So the TLDR is this…

No Part 2, Part 3, Part 4 videos - NONE

Just stick to stand alone videos - your YouTube view count will thank you
