No one tells you THIS about YouTube
Keep this in mind...
There are a lot of YouTube topics that get a ton of attention
Things like niches, tools and the like
What gets very little attention but is just as important is the management of outsourcing
No, I’m not talking about which platforms to use to hire your team
I’m talking about how you should decide what to outsource and why
So today I am going to share two continuums that you must consider when deciding how you want to handle outsourcing on your channel
The first continuum is the expertise continuum
Let’s call it what it is - you’re not going to be an expert in all aspects of YouTube
You may be good at scriptwriting but poor in thumbnail design
Or you may have a voice of an angel but can’t write to save your life
This is where the expertise continuum comes into play
When planning your outsourcing efforts, you should be considering where your strengths lie and where your weaknesses exist
After working with 100s of students, here is the most common chain of outsourcing that tends to work best:
First is editing. Most people either lack the skill or computing power to edit their videos properly.
Next are voiceovers. To get crisp audio, you will need a mic, sound shield and maybe even acoustic paneling in your room which most people do not have or lack the desire to obtain
Then there are scripts - not everyone is Stephen King
Finally there are thumbnails. While a thumbnail’s effectiveness is more related to its messaging than aesthetics, many people struggle to connect their packaging with the ideas in their videos
As such, this is the sequence in which you want to outsouce from a skill perspective
Second, there’s the time-saving continuum
Look, running a YouTube channel takes time
And some people struggle to find the time to manage and produce content
This is why understanding the time-saving continuum is critical to achieving YouTube success
The following sequence provides the outsourced components that will buy you back the most time:
Therefore, if you want to cut down your YouTube time investment, start with outsourcing editing and move along the chain until your time availability matches your workload
With these two frameworks understood, there’s no reason that you can’t ensure that you regularly publish videos on your channel this upcoming year
With the goal of making 2025 your best year yet!
Merry Christmas and see you tomorrow,
Adam
