My parents said this to me

If you’ve ever met me before you’ll know that I’m upbeat, positive and very caring

But under those uplifting traits lies one that few people know about

You see, for the majority of my teenage and adult years I was very anxious

During high school, I was anxious because lacked clarity on what direction to take in life

And which would provide me the life that I desired

So, what did I do? I took the safe path and became a CPA

Which is pretty much the safest route you can take to get a decent paying job

And have job security for life (to my parent’s contentment)

But after I got that job, the anxiety continued

Now it was about how I was going to cover my bills every month

I always throught that one mistake at work would leave me homeless and on the street

Which was an unnerving mindset to live with on a day to day basis

Fortunately, I am a problem solver

And I solved the problem of needing to make more money by starting my YouTube channels

Making $1,000s extra a month not only made saving money a lot easier

But it also allowed me to stress less at my job because I had a supplementary income that would support me in case anything at work did go wrong…

Amidst this journey, my parents came over one day and we were catching up

As you know, parents tend to know you the best and they had sensed a shift in me

They said, “Adam, we’ve never seen you this calm before”

Getting referred to as calm is like getting referred to as “hot” as a teenage boy

It was the ultimate compliment given that I lived in a state of tenseness for so many years

What was that state of calm from?

Given that most of my anxiety was finance-related I believe it was because I had that second line of defense behind me

That second income stream that would continue to feed me even if the first dried out

Ever since that day where my parents referred to me as being “calm” I’ve only strived to add on more and more income streams

Why?

Not because I need to make more money

But because I need those income streams to feel secure

Especially because I aim to start a family now that I’m married

So, if right now you’re not in that state of calmness you desire
