How long it actually takes to run a YouTube channel every week

This may surprise you...

One of the most common questions that I get asked from people thinking about joining Tube Academy is, "How much time is it going to require me to invest per week in order to grow and monetize a successful channel?"

To me, this is one of the smartest questions that you can ask before diving into your own YouTube journey.

Why is that the case?

Because you want to ensure that you can fit your YouTube channel into your day-to-day life so that you can grow it consistently, and then it can become a reliable stream of income for you now and into the future.

So, how long does it require you to invest on a weekly basis?

You're not going to love this answer, but it depends.

It depends on how you approach the production of your videos.

If you're operating your channel from the role of an owner—which you should be familiar with if you've consumed any of my books or courses to date—then you're looking at a weekly time investment of roughly 1 to 2 hours, which consists of ideation and review activities.

If you're a channel manager, you're looking at roughly 2 to 4 hours per week.

And if you're going to do everything yourself, assuming the role of an operator, then you're looking at a minimum of 8 to 10 hours for every video that you release.

Now, if you're someone who wants to get the most results in the soonest time frame possible, then you'll likely be assuming one of the two first roles that I just mentioned.

The reason being is that outsourcing your video production will not only allow you to tap into expertise that will result in you generating more views on your channel faster, but it will naturally allow you to consistently produce videos without having to turn your channel into another full-time job.

The funny part about explaining how much time you need to invest into your YouTube channel on a weekly basis is that, despite how many students I've worked with and my personal experiences outsourcing videos on YouTube, people still don't believe me when I tell them that you can successfully run a channel with a minimal amount of hours invested per week.

In fact, here's what one of my students sent me after we got his channel up and running:

As you can see, he really didn't know what to do with all of his extra free time after he had sent off his work orders to the team that I helped him put together.

Therefore, if you're thinking that you may not be able to build a successful channel due to a limitation of time, then you should probably put that worry to bed.

If you have some means to invest in your channel each and every month, then it should be incredibly easy for you to find the time to manage your channel going forward.

At worst, you may just have to cut out a little bit of Netflix on a nightly basis to move things forward. But let's be real—missing out on a season of Love is Blind is not going to hurt quite as much when you have a channel that's earning you thousands of extra dollars per month.

And I can say that confidently as someone who's been duped by his wife into watching that show religiously.

Until tomorrow,

Adam
