The HARSH Truth About Making Money on YouTube
Keep this in mind if you're serious about making long-term YouTube money...
If you’ve never made money online before
Here’s a rough depiction of what it feels like:
Sure, you’ve made money at your job before
But printing money from thin air using the internet?
That’s some Harry Potter type shit…
So, as you can imagine, once you start getting hooked on that sweet internet money
You never want it to end…
Here’s the harsh truth, it will end
It will end if you’re missing one key ingredient of long-term YouTube success
What is that one key element?
A moat…
If you’ve never heard of a moat before, it’s defined as “a deep, wide ditch surrounding a castle, fort, or town, typically filled with water and intended as a defense against attack.”
I bet you didn’t think you’d be staring at a castle when you opened this email did you?
So why am I sharing an image of a moat with you?
Because that’s exactly what your channel needs to survive on YouTube
And continue to pay you for years to come
So the next logical question is “what moats can I setup for my channel?”
The three most effective moats are as follows:
1. Channel Expertise: What knowledge or experiences do you have that the rest of the market doesn’t that you can use to differentiate your content?
2. Capital Investment: Investing money into your video production and packaging to elevate your content above the rest in the market
3. Brand Identity: Relying on your personality, storytelling and other traits unique to you to stand out
A channel should have at least 1 moat established
With more being better
But what if you don’t have a moat?
This may be your fate…
Take the example of Luminara
Just a few months ago this channel was generating near 2 million monthly views
And cashing in big in the spirituality niche
But then came the competition…
Given how easy it was to emulate this content
The market became flooded with supply…
And since Luminara didn’t have a moat set up around their content
They went from generating 2 million monthly views
Down 92% to under 200,000 monthly views
This is why in Tube Freedom I talk about how to differentiate yourself in the market
Because the only thing worst than struggling to build a cashflowing YouTube channel
Is building one, experiencing the thrill of having it pay you monthly
Only to lose that income shortly down the road…
Until tomorrow,
Adam
