How To Guarantee Your Videos Get No Views
If you enjoy getting 10 views per video then keep doing this...
Let’s call it like it is, we are building on YouTube to enjoy more money and a better life
Sadly, most people are trying hard to make this happen but are failing at gaining the traction they desire
I’m empathetic towards these people because growing and making money on YouTube isn’t easy
Especially when you have no idea what you’re doing…
This is why in today’s email I want to highlight a mistake I see so many people making
That is causing them to sink countless hours and dollars into their channels with next to no hope at them receiving a positive return…
Today, I want to share with you the channel Maapify
This channel aims to bring together people with overlapping interests of sports and maps
As you can see, the channel has been able to generate numerous videos with an appreciable amount of views as they target their intended audience with this type of hybrid content
Unfortunately, they have also fallen victim to what I like to call “niche misalignment”
What is niche misalignment?
It’s serving your audience content that falls outside it’s topic of interest
This can lead to:
Low view counts
Wasted resources
Ghost subscribers
What are examples on this particular channel of videos that were misaligned?
As you can see, the channel has mixed their sports/maps content with athlete success stories
Seems relevant enough, right? I mean it’s all sports…
Unfortunately, these two videos touch upon different audiences than the channels more pervasive video topics (sports stadiums)
Think about it like this…
Someone who loves the analysis of sports stadiums may be interested in sports finances/architecture/construction/logistics
That’s a totally different person who wants to learn about someone’s come up story…
In the case of the two videos above, a prospective viewer would have to not only have an interest in the sport involved but that specific player as well…
That’s a much harder sell than another stadium-related video to an audience who has clearly shown interest in learning about where these teams perform…
I always tell my students inside Tube Academy that you would never make a makeup video on a bodybuilding channel
Why?
It’s two different audiences
And if you analyze channels with the highest view baselines
They are always serving their core audience the most relevant videos possible…
Therefore, if you want your time and money invested in YouTube to go further
Keep your content moving in one direction that your subscribers can get behind
Having a scattered approach is only going to elongate the path that you need to traverse in taking your channel to the next level
