The Controversial Way To Get More Views On YouTube

It’s Sunday afternoon and you’re at the grocery store

You’ve got your cart filled and you’re now waiting at the cash waiting to checkout

As you look around, the headlines on the magazines start to catch your eye

“How Meghan Markle ruined the British Monarchy”

“How Jennifer Lopez Lied About Her Weight Loss”

Then you think to yourself, “That’s a lot of controversy to be subjected to on a calm Sunday afternoon!”

Yet, those controverial statements still caught your eye

And it’s not just inside grocery stores that these inflammatory tactics work

It’s on YouTube too…

A recent trend I’ve been seeing on YouTube lately is the leveraging of controversial medical remedies that leverage popular medical figures

Here are a couple example videos:

If you watch these videos, they are very basic in nature

It’s a mere combination of some clips of Dr. William Li speaking and stock video footage…

But look at the view counts…

So, that begs the question “how is this happening?”

Easy, the videos are touching upon controversial topics

Let me expand on this further…

Cancer is a diagnosis that most people fear being subjected to (myself included)

Most of us have had family members or friends affected or have even been affected ourselves

So to say that this topic is emotionally driven is an understatement

In combination with this delicate subject is the assertion that snacks can eliminate it

Which is a bold statement given the treatments most people have to go through when being diagnosed with this horrible disease

Therefore, in this case we have a combination of [controversial topic + remedy]

The result? 100,000 of views

And if you think about it, these view counts make sense

As humans, we are always trying to shield ourselves from harm

And cancer is right up there in terms of things that the majority of people would give anything to avoid

Making the value proposition of these video so endearing…

But what if your videos aren’t medical in nature, will this work for you?

Of course!

Just pick a spicy topic in your niche and then give counter arguments against it

For example:

  • Don’t waste your time meditating, do this instead

  • I started losing weight when I began eating carbs, here’s why…

Remember, people watch soap operas and read tabloid magazines for a reason

Because they LOVE drama and controversy

So integrate this knowledge into your YouTube efforts

And you’ll start to see your views skyrocketing in no time

Until tomorrow,

Adam
