How To Actually Manage A YouTube Channel and a 9-5 Job
If you feel pressed for time read this...

“What is your goal for your YouTube channel?”
This is one of the questions I ask every new student who enrolls in Tube Academy
Want to know the most common answer I get?
“I want to go full-time on YouTube and quit my job.”
This is a great goal to have but comes with one major issue…
Most people can’t quit their job without replacing the income it provides
And where people get caught up is not actually in their innate ability to use YouTube to make a full-time income online
It’s managing the two while they make the transition from full-time employee to full-time creator
Given you either want to follow this same path or just simply want to run a channel while keeping your 9-5 job here’s how you fix the busy professional-channel owner conundrum…
When channel owners tell me they are struggling to manage both their job and YouTube duties, I present to them two solutions in the following order…
The first is the time audit
What I’ve noticed is that most people would have the time to run a successful YouTube channel if they just used their time a little bit more effectively
And fortunately, a time audit can facilitate this…
Here’s how it works:
First, create a calendar for the next week with 30 minute time slots across each day (7 days x 24 hours x 2 slots per hour = 336 time slots)
As you progress through the next week, document how this time slots are used (sleep, cooking, exercise, work, TV etc.)
Then, at the end of the week, analyze your results
What most people tend to notice is that they have two main paths to more time for YouTube
The first is to eliminate low-value activities like watching Netflix, sports etc.
The second is to simply get up a bit earlier and add a few new working time slots into their calendar
I like this solution because it’s free to implement and its benefit extends well beyond YouTube
Now, I know what you’re thinking “but Adam, my calendar is already optimized”
First off, I doubt that…
But if it is then we can move onto method number 2 which is outsourcing
Most of my top students outsource some or all of their video production
The truth is that a YouTube channel requires resources to grow and make money
Those resources can be time or money
If you lack time, you can put money forward to keep things moving
And solve the time issue brought on by working your 9-5 job and all of life’s other responsibilities
This is why in Tube Academy I share:
Complete outsourcing walkthroughs
Hiring templates and best practices
List of pre-qualified freelancers
Not only does outsourcing allow for an easier way to manage the time commitments of a YouTube channel
But in most cases it speeds up your path to success as you can leverage the expertise that you lack in order to produce the highest quality videos possible
Therefore, no matter how much time you have to commit to your channel, you can make it work!
Until tomorrow,
Adam
